Kailena Van de Nes, the owner and artistic director of TWO dance studios in Ottawa Ontario (KV Dance Studios) participated in JA Nova Scotia Company Program while attending Sacred Heart School of Halifax in 2001. After high school, she attended Acadia University and graduated in 2005 with a degree in Recreation Management. Kailena has been teaching dance in the Capital since moving to Ottawa from Nova Scotia 14 years ago. A true entrepreneur at heart, she managed to combine her passion for dance into a blossoming business career. Four years ago, she opened her first dance studio in the Glebe. This year she opened her second studio just blocks away from her first, as well as launched Ottawa's largest adults only dance program.

JA had a significant effect on Kailena. In university as well as when she moved to Ottawa, she continued volunteering her time as an advisor for the in class and after school JA program. What she learned over the years as an achiever, as well as the JA conferences is what inspired her to pursue an entrepreneurial path.

JA gave her the opportunity to develop her self confidence and self reliance. JA provided her with a strong business knowledge well before university. By the time she applied that knowledge to her own business model, it had become second nature.
