Summer Project Coordinator

Scope of the Position
Work collaboratively with and under supervision of the Director of Entrepreneurship & Specialty Programs.

Projects

Programming- Assist in the facilitation of JA’s suite of programs in community settings (ex. MacPhee Centre for Creative Learning, Phoenix Youth)

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate programs and activities consistent with JA Nova Scotia’s Values, Pillars, Mission/Core Purpose

  • Be responsible for care, supervision and safety of youth ages 12+ in a stable, fun, caring, learning environment

  • Engage with community partners to develop collaborative speciality program delivery plans reflective of community needs and funder requirements

  • Maintain positive relations with stakeholders including youth, parents, partners, funders, and volunteers

  • Collect and maintain student records- including registration, attendance, and evaluative measures

  • Coordinate and purchase programming materials

  • Participate in training as required, including training in the delivery of JA’s core programming

Outreach- Assist in outreach to funders and community, including the management of thank-a-thon campaigns

  • Enter and organize key stakeholder data using Infusionsoft CRM

  • Recruit volunteers from existing student/alumni populations for Thank-a-Thon events

  • Assist in the development of outreach materials (print & digital)

  • Create social media plan and content

  • Assist in management of social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Youth aged 15-30

  • Some post-secondary education preferred

  • Strong organizational, written and oral communication skills required

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and capacity to work independently

  • Experience working with children and youth in recreation, camp or education settings an asset

  • Experience with managing social media, website management/design, graphic design an asset

  • Able to work from a supportive, confidential, non-judgmental, trauma informed approach

The position will be 20-30 hours per week, except for August 19-23rd which will require a 40-hour week. There may be flexibility in the days/times worked. The rate of pay is $11.55/hour. The position will begin mid-late June, finishing in August.
